Horoscope

Anna usually sends me my horoscope nearly everyday since I’ve known here. It’s actually kind of a fun treat. Sometimes we guess what the hell it really means… they can be a little vague.

Today’s, however, was a little different… it was pretty clear on the meaning, I think.

You are all set to go on a vacation, yet you just cannot stand the fact that your work has piled up. Whatever happens, don’t even think about canceling your plans, for your sense of urgency on the job may be more about your feelings than about the reality of the situation. Take some time off and you’ll return refreshed and ready to tackle even the most serious of jobs.

I should have played hookey today…

I really don’t want to relive any of today… but I figured I’d write in here for later self amusement.

Today, plain and simple, has sucked. And it’s only 4pm. I’ll also preface this with the simple fact that I’m physically fine, so don’t worry.

Now… I got hit, again. Yes, really. I was crossing Broadway, and got hit by a car… well, a truck. The drive had ran a red light, knowingly because I got the ‘white walking man’ light before he had even started to go through. The fucker was impatient. But, the noise of my knuckles and rings being hit by the truck sounded like me PUNCHING the truck to the driver. Who proceeded to stop, get out, start yelling at me asking me what what the fuck I was doing in the crosswalk, and then punching his truck. Before I know it, he’s now punched me in the face, and hopped in car, and drove off. Thankfully, this was the middle of the day, on one of the busiest downtown streets in New York City. I have two witnesses who saw the entire thing. We got the license plate number as well. Better still, the cops who showed up, well, we have a mutual friend. Nice. They were very helpful and gave me all the paperwork.

Still… I can’t believe, I got hit by a car (again) AND punched in the face for no reason (again). Worse even still, there wasn’t even any provocation from myself physically or verbally. I was just answering questions and wanting to get on my way. Idiot.

Then I had to walk out of the meeting at work due to personal differences. Lovely.

What else does this day hold for me, I wonder.

I’m not your Mother.

Yea, I know I shouldn’t post to my own blog about work… for the fear work people might read it. But, in this case, I don’t think it’s anything super secret or dangerous. Some people, I have no idea who, are very lazy in here. Not about work, however. This is the thing, everyone is really hard workers, stay late, diligent. Awesome team. But, when it comes to office chores it’s a different story. I’ve had to replace the soap after something finished it, the paper towels after someone used them all up, and the toilet paper roll after someone left it hanging. I don’t mind doing it at my house, after my roommate, because he does the same for me, and we forget sometimes. In an office environment, it should be different story. People are selectively selfish, I guess. It goes deeper, too. Everyone loves the fact the company supplies us with loads of food from Fresh Direct. However, when it arrives, you never see those hungry people ever help unpack the stuff and put it away in the refrigerator. The same goes for when the paper goods come. Just the other day, I was the only one unloading about 4 boxes of paper towels. About 28 rolls per box. And a huge box of tissue paper. Finally, an intern came over, and said, “You shouldn’t do this! It’s not your responsibility!” I know it’s not, but, who else was going to do it? I’m not bitter about doing it, I just don’t like the idea it’s the same very small group of people that do it. Why do we accept the janitor detail? We’re not you’re mom, right?
