Jury Selection: Day 1

I got up at 6:00am.

Sat in bed for about half an hour then decided I should probably start getting ready.
I got ready fairly quickly and arrived at the courthouse around 8:00am or so. I sat and waited for over 2 hours before anything I actually had to respond to happened. I was selected for a group, for a potential selection. And after the first lawyer got the second paragraph out of his mouth, I knew I wasn’t going to be selected if I was interviewed.

I was right. Due to circumstance in the case being emotionally connected with something in my own past, I could not guarantee my emotions overpowering my reasonable thought process. I am sure it would have since even the vagueness of the content was similar, it wasn’t the same. But, without knowing what would come out during the trial, I wanted them to be aware that if certain things did, I may not be able to endure it. They completely understood and appreciated my approaching them about it. Basically, being honest.

Now I’m home… tired… but fed, and just relaxing on the couch… not doing much of anything. Feels like a long day between getting up early, phoning into work several times and sitting through jury selection.

Happy Anniversary

Mom, Dad. Happy 35th Anniversary.

Very inspirational to see such a cute (even if it makes me gag a wee bit), loving, endearing, compassionate and happy couple after more than 3 decades, 2 kids, and lord knows how many automobiles and medical videos!

I can only dream of finding someone some day who will bring me as much joy as the two of you do for each other. You should consider both of yourselves very lucky.

The day that never happened.

Yesterday Eleanor, Brandy, John, Jon and I went out to Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays. We jokingly started calling it ‘The Day That Never Happened’ because, the traffic and the Garmin girl kept screwing with us. Ele was about an hour late, if not a little more. Then, it took us twice as long to get to Jon’s house. So, by the time I actually had gotten there, we were already 2 hours behind schedule. Awesome. So, then we start hitting traffic at the tunnel, and on 78. Then, the Garmin girl gave us directions to get gas… after making us do a U-turn on 22 and going away from the range! By the time we got there I think we had just about 90 minutes to suit up, sign some forms, get some guns and carts, and shoot. Even still, it was a fun day that never happened. Or did it.

After we shot some shells, we headed over to Grumpy’s for some super good BBQ food. I think I ate about 1/2 of what I ordered. Go figure… damn heat.

After I dropped everyone off and got home, it was about 10:30 or so. And Ele and I called it a night… watched a movie, twice. We repeat ourselves sometimes. Had some ice cream on the stoop, and just chilled relaxed. We both passed out with the tv on, and lights on. It was a long day.

Today… it was brunch, and relaxing at home doing absolutely nothing. And it’s been fun so far.

On the way home…

Such gorgeous days we’ve been having… it’s causing me to walk new ways home, and take about 20 minutes longer. I end up wandering around my neighborhood just watching people and enjoying the sun. Will add some stuff from the gallery opening from tonight, tomorrow. It was amazing.
