The Telectroscope: Brooklyn

Hardly anyone knows that a secret tunnel runs deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean. In May 2008, more than a century after it was begun, the tunnel will finally be completed. Immediately afterwards, an extraordinary optical device called a Telectroscope will be installed at both ends which will miraculously allow people to see right through the Earth from London to New York and vice versa.

It’s about 3 blocks from where I work. Hopefully I can venture over today and check it out.

Forecast: Frustration

“We cannot change the world market,” said Robert Malone, chairman and president of BP America Inc. “Today’s high prices are linked to the failure both here and abroad to increase supplies, renewables and conservation.”

Wow, even more reason to look for other energy sources. Oh, wait, we already have some. We just choose to not utilize them properly. Again, I’m unimpressed with the governments dealings on our energy and economic issues.

At least this levels us with most other countries and their petrol prices. Oh, wait, you still pay nearly $8 in Sweden. Never mind.

13 Months

It’s been 13 months, and a little more or less. I’m not exactly sure. I do know my life is much, much more happier. The last year has been great. I’ve gotten closer to my best friends. New ones are coming in as well. I’ve seem to find what makes me happy. And, realized, whomever is my life, is going to have to understand I can’t stop being me. I’m not going to live someone else’s life, again. It was a great lesson learned, although a hard one.

Someone I spent the beginning of the weekend with noted I’ve seem to have been really lucky with many things. I don’t think it’s luck, but maybe good timing. I seem to be in the right spot for quite a few things. It really made me appreciate a lot I’ve been able to do the last 15 years of my life. I’ve traveled, a lot. I’ve lived in many places. Experienced many things. And I don’t feel like stopping, and I don’t have to.

It was nice to have someone point this out, when it was within our first meeting. Apparently it’s this evident and I evoke a lot of the goodness to other people.

Mother’s Day Dinner

I went to dinner with Tracy and her mom, and 2 of Tracy’s good friends for dinner at Planet Thai last night. Tracy and I are both fans of Planet Thai, and have decent experiences with it. But last night was horrible! It’s making me really not anticipating going there again soon.

From the time we arrived, ate and then left, it was about 3 1/2 hours. There were only 5 of us. Not really a huge group. Not even enough for the automatic gratuity to be included. And we didn’t order anything overly complex either (one of the dishes was a Pad Thai with vegetables). But, it went from frustrating, to annoying to completely comical. It was still sad the service was completely horrible, but we couldn’t resist and made fun of the entire situation. What made it worse was the manager and server knew they had screwed up, apologized, yet somehow actually didn’t rectify the situation. They continued to screw things up. They offered us a bottle of wine, but we actually only wanted the drinks we had initially ordered. They forgot multiple orders, the food was cold, and incorrectly made drinks. It was appalling really. It just frustrates me when you’ve alerted to them they’ve made mistakes, and take zero or limited effort to actually remedy it. Very unimpressed last night. We saw the restaurant flip tables at least once last night. They had no interest in making sure people were content and happy customers.

Sorry Planet Thai, you’re officially off my recommend to family and friends list.
