My blog has tentacles

Posted in Blog Related by Nathan Lavertue

I’ve been using Twitter for some time now, and it’s actually feeding into the sidebar to the right here. Twitter is an online service where you can basically keep tabs on your friends, but at their discretion. You have to give updates, and then can subscribe to them. It’s sort of like a mini blog. For me, it’s useful because I can add updates to the sidebar of my blog from my phone. (I can also make updates from my blog from my phone, but it’s not easily managed. And, if I’m away from a computer, there is a good reason and I don’t want to write long rants about bark-beetle infestations that are killing trees across the West.)

Yesterday, I added Kyte to the list of mediums around here. Using Kyte’s services, I can record a video from my phone, email it to them, and they’ll create a tweet for me. All for free. Sick.

Stop Raining (and spending money)

Posted in General Musing by Nathan Lavertue

Been wanting a real rain jacket for some time… I don’t like umbrellas. Today is that day. This will be a great jacket.

Phone Upgrade

Posted in General Musing by Nathan Lavertue

My love for the Blackberry Pearl grew today. I’ve been using my current Pearl since October of 2006, and it’s been amazing. Great features for what I use, easy to use, cost effective and took a beating and kept working. In the recent weeks, the pearl itself has been acting up. It’s been sticking, and just not able to move smoothly. I have been cleaning it repeatedly with hand sanitizer, but today I think I’ve come to the end of this method working. Just from sheer curiosity, I called T-mobile about an upgrade. They said since I’ve been a member since 2003, they could hook me up with the discount they have going on… all said and done, I think I got the new phone for just under 50% off.

Here is why the love grew, I only ordered the next generation of the phone I have! I ordered the Pearl 8120. It has some new features I’ve been idly wanting, but never really cared to look for in a new phone since I enjoyed my current one. Some of the new features include Wi-fi access (including using my router at home to call thru – no more dead spots in the house!), video camera, and additional internal memory.

Met the Director, Andrew, of Ballet Deviare this weekend. It was shocking to meet someone with very similar interests.

Down, Drunk and Dedicated

Posted in Friends, Music, NHL, Work by Nathan Lavertue

The Rangers are down by 2 games already in their semifinal series with the Penguins. Yuck. I started the weekend out by going home and watching the game with friends Melissa and Toby. It was a good game, I must admit. Just not happy with the Rangers blowing a 3-0 lead. Man. We ventured over to Duff’s later, where it was slower than slow and only a handful of people there, but I knew a lot of them. Casey, Stella, Jesse, Mel, Tracy, Toby… and I forget how else. I some how found myself in a fog of beer and confusion and made myself go home before it got out of hand. I managed, lord knows why or how, to wake up around 9:30 Saturday morning. Did some freelance work and was done by noon. Strange, I had planned to work all day but I made just a huge dent in the morning I relaxed the rest of the day. Went to Otto’s and Duff’s on Saturday night, and was with even more people I knew! Great time, lots of fun. The silly factor was high this night. I called it quits early and actually went to get food and unwind at home. Slept in on Sunday and did some more freelance, and watched the Rangers lose a second game.

It’s painful to have my weekend start and end with the Rangers losing a game. Boo.

It’s Pittsburgh Penguins (2) v. New York Rangers (6)

It’s going to be brother against brother (Staal v. Staal) and old man against old team (Jagr)
