Firefox, Web Developer Extension, Adblock Extension and QuickTime content

  • Firefox 3.0.4
  • Adblock 0.5.3.043
  • Web Developer 1.1.6
  • QuickTime 7.5.5

The above combination (and variations of it) disables video content from playing — tested on an iMac and MacBook Pro using this page.

If you disable Adblock, it will attempt to load the content, but will only show a QuickTime logo with a question mark.

If you disable Adblock and Web Developer, the content will load and play.
I also have the following extensions installed, but none of them appeared to effect the content loading or playing.

  • Download Statusbar 0.9.6.3
  • Firebug 1.2.1
  • PDF Download 2.0.0.0
  • Steep and Cheap Watcher
  • StumbleUpon 3.26

The power of one

Last night, acting as a volunteer for the Barack Obama campaign, I spoke with registered voters in Ohio. Most of the calls turned up only to be messages left by me, some random volunteer in New York. But, the last one call left me with a sense of change. I spoke with a late-twenties male from Franklin county. Initially I was nervous while I was waiting for the phone to be passed to him, but was calmed realizing he was excited to receive the call. It seems Andrew from Franklin county had registered to vote early and wasn’t informed on where to vote. I pulled the information up on the computer, gave him the address and hours of operation. One person making change by helping one more person vote for change.

It left me with a really great feeling of fulfillment and excitement for the upcoming election.

Less than 5 days until all the polls are open.
