Winter Classic 2008

Posted in General Musing by Nathan Lavertue

I’ve been a bit reserved about it, but the closer it draws near, the more my anticipation builds for tomorrow.

It’s the Winter Classic 2008 game. The Penguins vs. Sabres. It’s an outdoor game. Yes, the NHL has build an outdoor rink for NHL game play in northern New York state. The pre-game starts in the late morning and the game begins at 1pm.

This is reason enough to not go out and act like a retard on New Year’s Eve. I believe this day is reserved for people who don’t get a chance to do it throughout the rest of the year. I’m not one of those people. I am, however, like everyone else, doing something I rarely do throughout the year. Nothing.

That’s right… nothing. I’m on the couch, watching the Islanders play the Hurricanes and plan on watching more TV once the game is done. And then enjoying my entire day off tomorrow, sans the hangover.

Easo Andrews

Posted in Arts by Nathan Lavertue

My neighbor, Easo Andrews, is having an opening January 12th at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. I would love, if you can, to came and make Easo feel great about his work as he’s been working like a mad man lately trying to get stuff down for the opening. He’d appreciate it.

Williamsboard

I’m not really that shocked this exists, but I’m already hating on it.

Maybe

Posted in General Musing by Nathan Lavertue

I don’t know much, I feel. At least not many things emotional. I have these weird blip moments where I feel like things are coming together, and then it changes.

Maybe it’s me.

MPAA raises the censorship bar

Posted in Entertainment by Nathan Lavertue

taxi poster

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has rejected Taxi On the Dark Side’s poster as being “not suitable for all audiences.”

What’s offensive about this image? The detainee in the hood. Well, actually just the hood. An MPAA spokesman said: “We treat all films the same. Ads will be seen by all audiences, including children. If the advertising is not suitable for all audiences it will not be approved by the advertising administration.”

Welcome to the new age of censorship kids, it makes McCarthyism seem almost quaint.

Another Christmas in the books, and I just got home. Time for bed.
